I recently went home to California to attend a dear friends wedding, spend some long overdue time with my family, and reconnect with my friends. It has been almost 2 years since i had been home to LA. My sister and I drove to the desert to visit my dad in Borrego Springs, part of the Anza Borrego Desert State Park
I feel most home in the desert. There is a quiet and stillness that I crave. What I am most enamored with, is that the desert, to most can appear lifeless, but that could not be further from the truth. It is teaming with life. The desert's secret and her strength, is that she sustains life in the harshest of conditions. I am constantly moved by her beauty.
These are some of the photos I took while I was there. More photos to come of my trip.

  4. I want to thank you for sharing your inner feeling about the desert! Coming from the forests of Finland, desert is the most strange environment to me, and hard to bare.. Yet I'm moving there in a month (to Las Vegas for boyfriend's work - yes he plays poker lol). So I really appreciate hearing your heart on the matter because that's just what I need: a reminder of Earth's beauty and magic and calming and energizing impact on us.. everywhere! If we just *see it*. Which you do and gave me eyes to see too. So thank you :)

  5. Bhakti Omwoods...I am so pleased that my words and post can inspire. Changing your life so completely can be really frightening. There is beauty everywhere, if we can just open our eyes to see it. Wishing you lots of luck and love on your new journey.
